Carie Johnsen is a Unitarian Universalist Minister. She serves the Unitarian Universalist Community Church of Augusta. Carie embodies a spiritual practice of creating deep meaning in everyday life experiences, a compassion for all of humanity, a commitment to greater equality and justice, and passion for liberal religious faith communities.
Carie’s credo for spiritual living is influenced by her life as a spiritual wanderer on a skeptic’s journey; a christian inspired to live and be guided by the words and deeds of a great prophet, teacher, activist and Rabbi; a humanist with a mystic’s heart who believes we are the hands and hearts and eyes and ears of God; a pantheist humbled by an over abundance of miracles; but most of all, at the end of the day, she is a woman, doing the best she can on any given day, to Love boldly in an aching and joyful universe.
Confused? So is she!! Truth be told, she is one among many who are at peace living beyond the categories, walking with the questions, living into the answers and engaging Mystery. Guided by the Principles of Unitarian Universalism, Carie is committed to this “living tradition of wisdom and spirituality, drawn from sources as diverse as science, poetry, scripture, and personal experience.“
